Volant is a brand of ski equipment, which is currently owned by Amer Sports. The company was founded as an independent company in the United States, by the brothers Hank and Bucky Kashiwa in 1989. The brothers developed stainless steel "cap" skiing, and founded the company in the belief that stainless steel ski equipment will provide better performance than skiing made from other materials.

In 2001, Volant's production was transferred from Wheat Ridge, Colorado to the Atten Altenmarkt plant in Austria on an OEM basis. In 2003, the Volant brand was purchased by Amer Group, LLC, the parent company of Atom, and several other sports equipment brands.

Volant bought Aggression Snowboards in 1994, to obtain a snowboard making facility. A steel-coated skate was introduced to the line of Aggression (Steel Aggression) initially. The following season, Volant introduced his own sliding line and shifted the steel-covered board to the Volant line. Volant purchased Limited Snowboards, taking their president to Wheat Ridge but continuing to produce a Restricted lane in Canada. Volant is still not profitable because of the continuing problem of reaching economies of scale with a helmet. Cost issues are increasing with the opening of eastern Europe and industrial globalization. Average 4.5 hours of work spent on each ski pair can not be justified. Meanwhile, the stock portfolio of major investors took a beating due to Com bust dot and he no longer wants to continue pumping money into the bleeding company. Door-doors closed and brands sold.
