1906 Gempa Bumi

The hotel was nearing completion before the 1906 San Francisco earthquake. Although the structure survived, the interior was heavily damaged by fire, and the opening was delayed until 1907. Architects and engineers Julia Morgan were hired to repair the building due to its innovative use of reinforced concrete, able to withstand earthquakes and other disasters.
