Citizen Watch Co., Ltd ( ?????????? , Shichizun tokei Kabushiki-gaisha is the core company of Japan's global group of companies based in Tokyo, Japan. The company was founded in 1930 by Japanese and Swiss investors. It took over the Shokosha Watch Research Institute (founded in 1918) and several facilities from an assembly plant opened in Yokohama in 1912 by Swiss watchmaker Rodolphe Schmid. It is known as a manufacturer of precision lathe tool Cincom and Citizen watches. The Citizen brand was first registered in Switzerland by Schmid in 1918. The development of Citizen through World War II depended on the transfer of technology from Switzerland.

Atomic timing
Citizen launched the world's first multi-band atomic observation clock in 1993, and remains a pioneer of this field. They combine it with their light-powered Eco-Drive technology so that when you have a Citizen Atomic Timekeeping watch you will get the right time powered by a light source. With a margin of error of only one second in 100,000 years, Citizen watches receive radio signals from atomic clocks to set the time correctly.
Some watches, such as the Skyhawk A-T feature have radio-controlled timekeeping. Watches can be synchronized with radio clocks in Japan, North America, and Europe and will automatically choose the right frequency to do so based on the home time zone location. The watch is actually tracking two time zones - home and world - but synchronized to the 'home' zone. When traveling, users can swap 'home' and 'world' zones - thus allowing the reception of the right time signals on different continents while maintaining another time. The day setting, date, and summer time settings are also set automatically when the clock is synchronized. These features are comparable to synchronization with atomic clocks found on Casio Wave Ceptor watches.
The Perpetual Chrono A-T is one of Citizen's radio-controlled watches. This watch synchronizes with atomic clocks in Colorado or Germany depending on the strength and location of the signal. It also incorporates Eco-Drive technology which means it will never need a battery.

Bulova UHF Movement
In 2010, Miyota (Citizen Watch) Japan introduced a newly developed movement (UHF 262 kHz) that uses three-prong quartz crystals for the Precisionist or Accutron II line, a new type of ultra-high quartz clock (262,144 kHz) claimed accurate up to/- 10 seconds per year and has a second, smoother sweep than a jump every second.
Chronomaster
The Chronomaster watch line is a series of high accuracy quartz watches manufactured by Citizen. Chronomaster is not officially the most accurate watch ever made, with an accuracy of 5/-5 seconds per year. They are currently only sold in the Japanese Domestic Market, but can be shipped out of Japan if ordered online.
Contemporary watch
Residents also produce an Independent Watch line, featuring a more modern contemporary design than the traditional Citizen label. Depending on the market, these watches may be labeled "Secret" brand, "Lighthouse" among others.
DCP buckle
The Handheld Deployant with Push Button (DCP) is the buckle available for many Citizen watch bracelets. Buckles, such as with Caliber 8700, are also used with leather bands as if they are watchbands of metal bracelet style; However, when the buckle is tightened, the band looks like a normal eye-hole and a pin link skin bracelet.
Eco-Drive
Eco-Drive watches use rechargeable batteries by solar panels hidden under the watch face. In the Eco-Drive Duo series that is rare and discontinued, solar power is powered by automated quartz resources. One of the earliest models, called Citizen Vitality, used watches to drive a small electric generator, but was stopped after complaints that the device could explode and cause a wrist injury. There is also a Thermo Eco-Drive model that exploits the temperature difference between the wearer's skin temperature and the ambient temperature to recharge the batteries. However, the only Eco-Drive system described on Citizen Watch's official website is the only one that relies entirely on light to recharge. Features similar to Eco-Drive have been developed by other manufacturers such as Casio and Junghans. All Citizen Eco-Drive movements are made in Japan but casing or bracelets can also be made in China.
Q & amp; Q SmileSolar
Q & amp; Q SmileSolar is a series of solar-powered watches, which do not require battery replacement. They are made from recycled materials and have a waterproof rating of 10 Bars. The watch line also supports people by donating for every hour purchased.
Other products
Residents also produce small electronic calculators and organizers. Some non-clock devices such as handheld televisions and computer printers, have been marketed under the Citizen brand name.
In the 1980s, a number of handheld electronic games were sold under the brand Q & amp; Q.
In the early mid-1990s, Citizen partnered with Compaq Computer Corporation to build notebook computers in Japan for the Japanese and Far East markets for sale under the name Compaq.
On January 10, 2008, Citizen bought Bulova Watch Company for $ 250 million, making The Citizen Group the world's largest watchmaker.
In 2016, Citizen acquired the Swiss Conference Group FrÃÆ'à © dà © dà © Ã
